Illegal Immigration

How do you feel about allowing Illegal Immigrants to live in the United States? If you are “on the fence” (pun intended) about the issue, then maybe this will help put things into perspective.

I DID NOT write what is to follow. It was emailed to me and I thought it was great.

Certain people are angry that the US might protect its own borders, might make it harder to sneak into this country and, once here, to stay indefinitely.

Let’s see if I correctly understand the thinking behind these protests.

Let's say I break into your house.
Let's say that when you discover me in your house, you insist that I leave.

But I say, "I've made all the beds and washed thedishes and did the laundry and swept the floors. I've done all the things you don't like to do.”

According to the protesters:

You are Required to let me stay in your house
You are Required to add me to your family's insurance plan
You are Required to Educate my kids
You are Required to Provide other benefits to me & to my family

If you try to call the police or force me out, I will call my friends who will picket your house carrying signs that proclaim my RIGHT to be there.
It's only fair, after all, because you have a nicer house than I do, and I'm just trying to better myself. I'm a hard-working and honest, person, except for well, you know, I did break into your house.
WHAT A DEAL FOR ME!
I live in your house, contributing only afraction of the cost of my keep, and there is nothing you can do about it without being accused of cold, uncaring, selfish, prejudiced, and bigoted behavior.
Oh yeah, I DEMAND that you to learn MY LANGUAGE!!! so you can communicate with me.

being that this is a hot political/moral topic, I've read a lot on this issue...none so simply and eloquently as this...awesome.

If you break the law, you're a criminal. It's as simple as that.

If we don't secure our borders, we will eventually pay the price, and a mighty high price it will be.

There is the Islamic Jihad that is spreading through out the world, and they want us all dead.

Tough issue. Sometimes I feel that I have no right to want them to stay where they belong..Because I feel very fortunate for God to have let me to be born and raised -and ancestors as far back as we can trace - in this country.
However. I don't think any of the illegals would like it if some of us were to go to their country, in their faces, and TAKE and EXPECT TO TAKE what I and my parents and their parents and on and on, have worked all our/their lives for.
and another thing. The ENGLISH language was decided on centuries ago to be the national language of the U.S. so IF these ungrateful freeloaders keep coming here [and our government is too lame to enforce OUR laws that have been on the books for many, many, many years], then they need to learn OUR language and don't even think that I or my children should even need to learn theirs! If they can't speak OUR language, they need to keep their mouths closed.
Which brings me to another thing!! It disgusts me to see people come here and this government just gives and gives and gives. And we have people in our country that BELONG here, that are hungry in the streets and they are ignored.
But WE are losing this battle.
How about starting a discussion about animal rights versus people rights.

I dont have an issue with anyone wanting to come to this GREAT country, but get your paperwork in order, and come legally. I guess I dont understand why its so hard for the people in MExico to get papers to come here and work. They are just trying to support their families. Now I do have an issue with Habibi and all his jihad buddies coming here on visas and never leaving and learning to fly planes into buildings. A little racial profiling on my part, sorry, cant help it. Am I racist, no i really am not. Do I treat men of Middle Eastern heritage a little differently, no I dont. But its something I tuck in the back of my mind.

I completely agree with the notion of deporting illegal aliens, if caught!
Here are also some things that come to my mind when I think of this issue:

1. Why is it so easy to focus all of the angst over this issue on the immigrants? Why do we rarely direct this anger squarely where it originates...the cheating employers that willingly and most times OPENLY employ illegal immigrants!
2. Am I ready to pay the price for not having illegal immigrants in the US? Higher prices for food or possibly worse hits to our economy by becoming less competitive in Agriculture?
3. Why aren't labor unions picketing the farms and other businesses that employ illegal immigrants?
4. Why don't the news agencies confront the employers of illegal immigrants on a regular basis?
5. Why do folks think that illegal immigrants are the biggest defrauders of our public health services?
Read this report from the Dept. of Health and Human Services (Fiscal Year 2005):
http://oig.hhs.gov/publications/docs/hcfac/hcfacreport2005.pdf
While you are breezin' it, search for the following to see who is really the burden on our public health systems:
GlaxoSmithKline
AdvancePCS
HealthSouth Corporation
Cleveland Clinic Florida Hospital
Eisenhower Medical Center
Gambro Healthcare
Hospital of St. Raphael
Duncan Drugs
University of Miami
Pierce Pharmaceuticals
Medback
Podiatrist
Adventist Health System Sunbelt Healthcare Corporation
PharMerica, Inc
University of Alabama at Birmingham
Polymedica Corporation
Apria Healthcare Group Inc
and many more!
Remember: These are the guys who GOT CAUGHT...THIS ONE YEAR...and are "settling" with the government at the tune of MILLIONS at a shot!!!

And I am supposed to get tweaked because some working guy who came here without getting his papers stamped takes his sick kid to the ER with a false ID and gets over on maybe a couple of hundred/thousand bucks?

The reality is this: Yes, we should continue to keep our country safe by better managing the immigration process, and yes we should encourage all immigrants to use the proper channels....AND YES, we should HEAVILY penalize employers of illegal immigrants, and YES, we should focus our angst at the right place when we get mad about the abuse of our public services, and YES we should be ready to sacrifice our current lifestyles to acheive change in these areas, otherwise we can all consider ourselves hypocrites on this issue. Period.
